The Tale of the Danish Protest Pig

proet

“I could never be mad with a face like that.”

“Jeg er et dansk svin. Så smuk. Så dansk.”

As always, apologies for any faulty Danish.

Basically, when the Danes living in North Frisia were forbidden from flying the Danish flag by the Prussians, they chose to breed a red and white pig instead, which could then happily frolic in the farmers gardens, mocking the authorities. No laws against owning beautiful pigs, after all. Cause that’d be silly.

You can find more information about the Danish protest pig, aka Husum Red Pied Pig, here and look at some beautiful fellows here.

You can also purchase a print or a shirt with this image on society6
